There are a handful of fixes on this version, but from all of them, there are two features that come to the top.

Experimental card simplification added

Yesterday, we sent a notification through our social network channels about a feature that was deployed on the server.

This feature simplifies cards by merging images, so, when the game renders a card (on the inventory or over a board), instead of pulling all layers and stacking them up in layers, gets a single image, effectively reducing download times and memory consumption on the device.

The only small issue with this feature is that the server takes the heavy load.

Currently, the GameServer we have is strong enough to deal with multiple threads to merge the cards fast, and since cards don't need constant reprocessing, once they're built they'll be cached for a long time. Only when moving them to/from the farm, the file would need to be rebuilt and re-cached.

The only system that is being hit is the training zone, since most cards given to bots are fresh new, and they'll need to be built before opening the board. So, you'll feel trainting matches taking a bit longer to launch.

Stash added

With the Halloween tournament we saw many users started to have a huge amount of cards. Now the system will alert if you have excess of them.

If you get the alert, you'll have two options to take some weight off:

  • Moving some cards to the farm so you can merge them in new, stronger cards, or
  • Stash them.

Moving cards to the stash is as simple as opening a card and hitting the "Stash" button in the actions section:

Once you confirm the action, you'll need to go to the stash, open the card and hit the "Unstash" button so it is taken back to the inventory.

Note: you won't be able to stash cards that are assigned to a deck, sleeping or from the farm.

A new universe is available

We wanted to honor the members of our streamers guild, and three of them were featured in this universe.

Each streamer got a mascot being made by our talented artist, and we made 5 cards of every mascot, plus 3 boards to play the cards on.

Play in the training zone and you'll be able to get some of these precious cards by defeating the bots!

And also Christmas!

As we did for Halloween, there will be a handful of boards and a collection of 5 cards in the Cariñoland universe that you can get by playing in the Christmas-themed boards!

Other changes

  • Removed "Move to farm" action from the single card view when triggering from a deck cards view.
  • Removed SVG image download log entries to slim down the app log.
  • Tuned card modal actions to display only the relevant ones.
  • Tuned farm tutorial.
  • Pushed seasonal boards to the top of the lists on the training zone and the arena.
  • Darkened the arena lists to improve visibility.
  • Refactored news feed elements for better compatibility with some devices.

Storybooks come next

We're heavily working in storybooks. Cheezewizard has the next ones almost done:

  • Cariñoland's chapter 7, which describes the happenings during the Blobympics.
  • The entire Tavin|DAX storybook.
  • The entire Stars Court storybook - yes, this is a new universe!

If you've played Cariñoland's storybook, you became familiar with the dialog engine.

Well, two new modes are being added to replace dialogs. One was supposed to come with Tavin|DAX, but we'll launch it with Cariñoland's chapter 7. The other will be launched with The Stars Court.
