A few months ago, we started talking about making something new within our Cariñoland universe, beyond the Trading Cards game.
For the latest addition to Cariñoland, we created a virtual K-Pop inspired band, Bulletproof Pato Squad (BPS), an album with 9 songs, and an adventure built around them. We are proud of that work, and we wanted to see where else we could take the idea.
Then we talked about a 3D world where our beloved characters could walk, move and talk. And dance.
Music was always going to be at the center of it. We’d also made a handful of dance music videos for the album, so bringing music and dance together in a game felt like a natural next step. Roblox seemed like a good place to try it, and that’s how Road to Idol started taking shape.
The idea is to let players build a music career of their own: collecting songs, learning choreographies, putting together outfits, and performing for NPC audiences. We’ve been turning that idea into something playable, and this post is our first look at what’s working, what’s still in progress, and where we could use some feedback.
What is available now
Here’s what we have in place so far:
- A starting area where players can meet and talk to NPCs.
- A main city with places to explore, NPCs to get to know, and a hub for activities.
- One map where players can gather resources.
- Three full songs, each with its own choreography.
- A small stage where players can perform.
- NPC conversations that help players learn how to play and get to know the world and its stories.
How it looks and feels
We wanted to share a few moments from the current build so you can see how things are coming together. Here’s a look at meeting the characters, exploring, gathering resources, and getting on stage. There’s still work to do, but these are parts you can already play.
Meet the characters
Intergalactic ships are too big to land straight on the planet's surface, so you start at the Cariblobland’s Space Station.

Some characters give you instructions...

Other characters tell you stories...

And others even discuss about the past.
Explore and gather
There are two main hubs: the Space Station and New New Blorb.
Explore them to collect SP coins and other goodies!

Take a deep breath and dive in the artificial lake.

Some restaurants give you SPs
Once you land to New New Blorb, enter the Shinquack Entertainment building to access all activities from the lobby.

The Shinquack Entertainment building.

The lobby.

Pick a map and collect Music Pieces,

You can also collect Dance Moves.

...And convince blobs to follow you.

...But some of them will be picky.
Take the stage
Once you have enough MPs and DMs, you unlock songs and choreos and ready yourself to conquer the stage, get more fans, experience, SPs, and glory!

Unlock songs with MPs at the Music School.

Unlock choreos with DMs at the Dance Academy.

Build a stage and song+choreo package at the Performance Hall.

Test your skill in the rhythm minigame...

And become the best performer of the land!
The road ahead
There’s still plenty we want to build and improve:
- Improve our characters. The 3D models we made need some work, especially facial expressions and variations other than just different colors. And there are others with pending design.
- Giving the world its own look. We’ve relied on Roblox Marketplace buildings and assets to get things moving. We have a visual direction in mind, and we’re planning to bring that into the game.
- Making the resource map feel more alive. The first map is still pretty bare. We want to give it more detail and make it a more interesting place to spend time.
- Adding more places to explore and perform. We have plans for two more maps and two more stages.
- Adding minigames to NPC interactions. We want meeting characters to lead to things you can do together, beyond conversations.
- Building out outfits and fashion. We’re working on a system where what you wear affects how you attract fans and how your performances are scored, along with a shop for outfits.
- Giving players a place of their own. We’re planning a dorm area where you can get a room and customize it.
- Badges. We have planned a bunch of badges to give, and they will worth the effort.
These are at different stages of development, and we’ll share more as they come together.
Your feedback is important
We’ve spent a lot of time with these ideas, so we’d love to hear how they look to someone seeing the game for the first time.
- What would you want to try first?
Performing, exploring, meeting the characters, putting together outfits, or something else? - Is it clear what you’d do in the game?
Let us know if anything in this post or the footage leaves you wondering how it works. - What would make you want to keep playing?
What would you enjoy working toward as you build your music career? - Does anything feel missing or put you off?
We’d like to hear that too.
